El Monte Sagrado Living Resort & Spa Unveils Property Expansion with Ribbon Cutting Festivities
TAOS, NM (October 15, 2007) The AAA Four-Diamond El Monte Sagrado Living Resort and Spa™, a Kessler Collection hotel, unveiled today its beautiful expansion of the property in order to meet increasing guest, meeting and spa demands. The resort’s expansion is comprised of 48 new guestrooms, for a new total of 84 luxury accommodations, nearly 7,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space and five additional treatment rooms that have been added to The Living Spa™.
Richard C. Kessler, President and CEO of The Kessler Enterprise, Inc., Taos Mayor Bobby Duran, Gilbert Suazo, Governor of the Taos Pueblo, and several other local dignitaries cut the ribbon this morning as part of the official festivities for the hotel. El Monte Sagrado is located on Kit Carson Road within walking distance of the city’s shopping, dining, art galleries.

Inspired by Native American culture and exotic locales, El Monte Sagrado’s 84 rooms, suites and casitas offer an enriching, tranquil living environment. Behind each door is a unique and uplifting experience with hand-painted walls created by local Taoseño artists. A rich variety of art and fireplaces add to the experience. Guests can choose from casitas, breathtaking suites, or the new Kit Carson rooms.
The Kit Carson rooms feature sensual, mountain chic décor with accents of turquoise, river rocks, and cow hides. Each room offers Kessler’s signature pillow-top mattress with a down comforter, faux fur throws and turquoise pillows, artwork by Italian wildlife artist Stefano Cecchini and Russian abstract impressionist artist Alexander Gore, wireless Internet access, a wet bar, in-room safe, flat screen television, gas fireplaces and balconies with mountain views. Each bathroom features a shower, granite countertops, and a soaking tub with either draped walls or louvered doors for privacy.
The 2,385 sq. ft. elegant Rio Grande Ballroom features Italian crystal chandeliers, bronze mirror walls, hand carved Neem (baby teak) columns and doors from India, and ceilings designed with a gold leaf motif in the light coves. Inside the Rio Grande Ballroom is an Imperial Concert Grand Bösendorfer piano, and the more intimate adjacent rotunda features a Steinway piano.
The 1,450 sq.ft. Sandoval Room features artwork available for purchase by local artist Ed Sandoval who is represented by Kessler’s Grand Bohemian Gallery. The Sandoval Room also features Italian crystal chandeliers, hand-carved Neem (baby teak) columns and doors from India, and ceilings designed with a gold leaf motif in the light coves.
Mr. Kessler also purchased two large outdoor bronze sculptures for the property. At the entrance is an 18 ft. bronze work entitled “Sun and Moon” by Jerry McKellar, and a larger than life bronze elk by Lorenzo Ghilieri is located at the apex of the resort facing the Taos Mountain.
