Taos is home to one of the oldest art colonies in the United States. One visit and you will see why the incredible light and scenery of the region have lured artists such as Ernest Blumenschein, Bert G. Phillips, and RC Gorman. Georgia O’Keefe’s breathtaking paintings were inspired by these magnificent surroundings, as well as the photography of Ansel Adams and Paul Strand. It comes as no surprise that Taos has more than 80 galleries, largely showcasing the works of talented local artists. Taos also features an impressive array of art and history museums.
